Gesture Exercise
Gesture Exercise
8" x 12"
Charcoal and India ink on Newsprint
April 2022
Charcoal:
The goal of this exercise is to focus on the movement of a model, placing deeper tones where it seems like the model may find it hard to hold a pose. This set of gesture drawings was accomplished by watching videos with images of models in different poses, the time to draw starts at one minute, throughout the video the poses are left on the screen longer to allow more drawing time up to the last being ten minutes. I found the freedom of the gestural quality quite relaxing. India ink seemed easier to work within a gestural quality. Overall a fun exercise.
